While I typically shy away from justifying my own existence, it’s essential to explain the genesis and purpose of ResearchBuildConnect (RBC). I’ve always believed that to achieve a dream, you must first be able to imagine it. The simple act of daydreaming—imagining possibilities—has laid the foundation for many of today’s most successful industries. As a child, I was taught to aim for the sky, but later realized that the sky was often limited by the knowledge and expectations of those around me.
This limitation is all too common for communities of color and other traditionally underserved groups. Despite recent strides in education, health, and media representation, these communities remain underrepresented in many sectors—especially in positions of power. Personally, I’ve been fortunate to learn from a diverse group of mentors and thought leaders who have played an invaluable role in my growth, both professionally and personally.
RBC exists to help people redefine the norm. For many people of color and other underrepresented groups, taking risks or pursuing dreams often feels like something reserved for the movies. Playing it safe is ingrained in our daily lives and influences our educational and career choices. Yet, in an era where old rules are being redefined—whether it’s expectations around in-person work or how success is measured for younger generations—it’s time to reimagine what’s possible. RBC is committed to fostering a space for imagination, helping clients embrace a broader vision of what could be.
At RBC, we empower those closest to the issues to ask the right questions and ensure that the unique perspectives of diverse communities are central to any design or implementation process. By combining impact evaluation, applied research, strategic communications, and a deep understanding of community and culture, RBC strives to craft inclusive and actionable solutions that stand the test of time.
